Facilities: Gravity Current Front Flume

This flume is a custom-made facility, designed to study the characteristics of the density current fronts. The flume main feature is a movable bed (variable speed conveyor belt) that allows for the arrestment of the front. This capacity distinguishes this facility from any other dedicated to the study of gravity currents, since it allows for the study of stationary currents.

Current research in the facility includes a particle image velocimetry study of the velocity field in the front.
